At one, most dogs have their adult teeth and are sexually mature. Small breeds have finished growing; large and giant breeds keep growing until 15 to 24 months, so keep them on a large-breed puppy diet until then.

The 2020 clock (Wang et al.) maps DNA methylation in dogs to humans and finds that dogs age very fast early and slowly later: 16 × ln(1) + 31 = 31. The size-adjusted chart instead adds a fixed number of human years per dog year. They agree that a dog is adult by two and diverge in the middle years. Neither is a medical measurement.
